Ryan is a student at Cranbrook
Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. He
felt it especially worthwhile to volun-
teer at the Brown Adult Care Center in
West Bloomfield as part of his mitzvah
experience.

based Friendship Circle's Miracle
League and Sports Nights.
Tale Of An Ethiopian Child In Israel
Temple Beth El's 2009-2010 Reel Israel Film series
opens 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, with Live and Become,
the story of Solomon, a young Ethiopian swept up into
Operation Moses, the joint effort of Americans and
Israelis to relocate Jews from Africa to Israel.
Hoping to shield her son from proverty, his Christian
mother forces him to declare himself Jewish and join the
exodus. He is adopted by a Sephardic family and migrates
to Israel, but the culture shock proves devastating.
The free showing, sponsored by the temple's Israel
Chai Committee, is open to the community. Discussion
following the film will be led by Dr. Charles Greenberg.
