Party On!
JARC and Somerset Collection share 40th anniversary bash.
M
ore than 250 guests dug into
their closets to find clothes
appropriate for "Party Like It's
1969:' an event honoring the 40th anni-
versaries of Farmington Hills-based JARC
and the Somerset Collection in Troy.
The Oct. 17 event at Somerset Collection
South had people dancing to Sixties music
from Star Trax Event Production and lis-
tening to coffeehouse-style folk music per-
formed by Hannan Lis and daughter Liat,
Marty Liebman and Steve Tarnowsky.
Supporters of JARC, an agency provid-
ing services to developmentally disabled
individuals and their families, rocked out
on the dance floor.
Nearly everyone dressed in Sixties garb,
which meant there were plenty of tie-
dyed shirts, fringes, headbands and peace
signs. Two costumes especially stood out
— Rick Loewenstein, JARC CEO, wore a
blue leisure suit with snappy white shoes,
and former JARC executive director Joyce
Keller looked like a Cher double, with her
husband, Michael Walch, as Sonny.
"This is a spectacular array of people
said Mort Collins of West Bloomfield. And
so many smiles — it's representative of
JARC and the JARC heart."
Proceeds benefit JARC programs. Co-
sponsors were Somerset Collection-The
Forbes Company, Star Trax, Matt Prentice
Restaurant Corporation, Dragon Bleu
Vodka and Special Events Party Rental.
