nalist Bill Tammeus and Rabbi Jacques
Cukierkorn, spiritual leader of New

'Wild Things' At JCC
Shalom Street's exhibit "Where the
Wild Things Are: Maurice Sendak
in His Own Words and Pictures"
features facsimiles of original illus-
trations, manuscripts, handwritten
notes and hands-on interaction to
give visitors insight into the world
of Sendak, known as the "Picasso of
children's books."
Children can slide into a bowl of
chicken soup, dress up like a Wild
Thing, cook in the Night Kitchen,
read Sendak's books on Rosie's Stoop
and create their own artwork. Wendy
Sadler, Shalom Street director said the
exhibit is great for families, groups
and schools.
"You get to learn about imagination','
she said, "and you get to learn about
Maurice Sendak who teaches us about
the world through his children's books."

Shalom Street is located in the
Jewish Community Center in West
Bloomfield and is open 1-5 p.m.
Sunday-Thursday. $5 per person / $18
per family. School groups may sign
up for mornings. For information, call
