marks its silver
anniversary, a new
executive director
looks to the future.

A
s the Holocaust Memorial
Center (HMC) on the
Zekelman Family Campus in
Farmington Hills commemorates the
achievements of its first 25 years, new
executive director, Stephen M. Goldman,
looks to its future, instituting new pro-
grams, planning new exhibits and con-
tinuing ongoing community outreach
work.
Goldman, who began his new post on
Sept. 29, takes over the helm from Dr.
Guy Stern, who served as interim direc-
tor following the December 2008 death
of the HMC founding director Rabbi
Charles Rosenzveig.
In addition to 20 years of Holocaust
museum experience, Goldman brings
expertise in running the business side
of a nonprofit, something he says the
HMC is ready for.
Stern, a member of the search com-
mittee, said, "In hiring Stephen, I saw
someone who, as director at several
locales in Florida and in Tulsa, Okla.,
had extensive programming and
museum experience. But he also has
experience as a nonprofit organization's
business person, in areas including
fundraising!'
From 1990-2004, Goldman served
as museum director and curator of
the Florida Holocaust Museum in St.
Petersburg. He was executive director of
the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish
