Bold fall fashions from cropped
jackets and mini-skirts to sky-high
heels generated plenty of excitement
at Saks Fifth Avenue in Troy. More
than 80 people gathered Sept. 10 for
a wine and hors d'oeuvres reception
followed by a high-energy fashion
show in the Designer Collections
department. "The show had a lot
of swagger!" said Dorie Shwedel of
Bloomfield Hills. "The shoes were
gorgeous and the clothes were beauti-
ful. It was a 'girl's night out' for all
ages." The event raised about $4,000

for the JVS Women to Work pro-
gram, which helps women re-enter
the workforce after a divorce, the
death of a spouse or other financial
circumstances. "As you can imagine,
this program needs more support
than ever," said Barbara Nurenberg of
Bloomfield Hills, president and chief
executive officer of JVS. "Participants
get professional career counseling and
encouragement from other women
facing similar situations. They come
to us with desperation and walk out
with confidence." III
