Josh Bender will
celebrate his bar
mitzvah as he reads
from the Torah on
Saturday, Sept. 26, at
Temple Israel in West
Bloomfield. He is the
son of Betsy and Steve
Bender and the broth-
er of Jayne. The joyous
event will be shared with his grandpar-
ents Howard Bender, Gloria Bender and
Bonnie and Erwin Raffle.
Josh attends West Hills Middle
School in Bloomfield Hills. His most
meaningful mitzvah project was sell-
ing bracelets to benefit the Yaldeinu
Fund, which helps orphaned children
in the community.

Davis will celebrate
his bar mitzvah as he
reads from the Torah
at Temple Israel
in West Bloomfield
Friday, Sept. 25. He is
the
son of Dr. Susan
Davis
Gottlieb and Jeff
Davis and the brother
of Sophie. Sharing in the simchah will
be his grandparents Helen and Stewart
Gottlieb and Anne and Sheldon Davis.
Joshua is a student at Berkshire
Middle School in Beverly Hills. He vol-
unteered his time and donated funds
to support the Bear Hug Foundation
and felt this was a meaningful mitzvah
project.
Jessica Mae Hoffman, daughter
of Jennifer Hoffman and Michael
Hoffman, will celebrate her bat mitz-
vah Saturday, Sept. 26, at Temple
Israel in West Bloomfield. She is the
sister of Jonathan and the grandchild
of Sandra and Fred
Layne, Daniel Silvers
and Susan Chalfin,
and Phyllis and
Gerald Krause. She is
also the grandchild
of the late Sanford
Hoffman.
Hoffman
Jessica is a student
at Walnut Creek
Middle School in Walled Lake. Her
most meaningful mitzvah project was
volunteering to work with dogs at the
Humane Society.
Jenna Brooke Rosen
will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitz-
vah on Saturday, Sept.
26, at Temple Israel
in West Bloomfield.
She is the daughter
of Anne and Mark
Rosen
Rosen and the sister
of Carly. Sharing in
the celebration will be proud grand-
parents Melanie and Marty Weiss and
Iris and Leo Rosen.
Jenna is a seventh-grader at West
Hills Middle School in Bloomfield
Hills. As part of her mitzvah projects,
she volunteered at Yad Ezra in Berkley.
Sammy Louis Schultz of Los
Angeles celebrated his bar mitzvah
Saturday, Aug. 22, at Young Israel of
Century City. He is the son of Debbie
and David Schultz and brother of
Aaron, Rachel and Batya. His very
proud grandparents are Barbara and
Sander Papo of West Bloomfield and
Hadassah Schultz of Riverside, N.Y.
Sammy attends the Harkham
Hebrew Academy of Beverly Hills .He
will donate part of his gifts to the
Israel Defense Forces.
