'out-liberal other liberals who
supported him. And we did. We
needed to be in the forefront of
upporting a black candidate
While we vehemently maintain we
should be colorblind.
Dissecting Obama's Middle
East policy, the liberal intellectual
Leon Wieseltier — note "liberal"
— summarized it well when he
wrote recently in the The New
Republic:
"A policy of tough love must
show love as well as toughness."
Then he added that he does not
object to pressure on Israel, "but
do not take kindly to it when it
is accompanied by a bow to the
Saudi king."
Now we will pay the price. The
only question left is: How dear
-a price? Let us hope for the best
;because — having surrendered

influence — that is all we have

The Charge
Yousef Rizka, an aide to Hamas
leader Ismail Haniya, said last
week that the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict can only be settled when
Israel withdraws from land cap-
tured in 1967 and removes the
settlements.

The Answer
In a typical one-sided answer,
Rizka ignored the Palestinians'
terrorist activity, incitement to
hatred and violence, rejection of
peace offers and failed leader-
ship as causes for the continuing
conflict.
