ore than 100 members and
prospective members of
Temple Kol Ami in West
Bloomfield, most dressed in their
favorite "camp attire," attended the
third annual Camp Shabbat service at
the synagogue, followed by a camp-
style dinner of kosher hot dogs, chili,
tole slaw and chips.
As usual, Kol Ami's famous
"Shabbat S'mores" were the hit of the
evening.
The Camp Shabbat was designed as

a way to get the synagogue's children
back into the synagogue in a fun,
casual setting after a summer away at
camp, vacations and other activities.
The special service has become so
popular that it has become Kol Ami's
traditional kick-off to the back-to-
school season.
Kol Ami's membership committee
plans the annual evening and cooks
the dinner, which frequently leaves the
kids asking for "s'more Shabbats like
this!"
