Coming Together

It's a Labor Day
family affair at
Temple Israel.

ome 3,500 people came
out for the annual
Labor Day picnic on the
grounds of Temple Israel in West
Bloomfield — still going strong
after 25 years.
The fare included bouncers,
pony rides, magicians, train rides,
fire trucks, hot dogs, popcorn, ice
cream, snow cones, a disc jockey,
arts and crafts and face painting.
"In a year where money is scarce,
we hope we provided a free fam-
ily day of fun — away from their
day to day concerns:' said Tracie
Fienman, director of program-
ming.
New this year was a large tzeda-
kah box to benefit Berkley-based
Yad Ezra, Michigan's only kosher
food pantry.
The Temple Israel Brotherhood
held its annual blood drive in
connection with the picnic. I 1
