T CIE BEST OF EVERYTHING

A Perfect 'Ten'

Home-cooked goodness helps Moe's on Ten thrive in tough times.

T

he devastation was huge ...
Losing an ever-present large
customer base was enough to
bring much disturbance to any restaurant
owner.
After the great Ford Motor assem-
bly plant closed in 2007 with its 5,000
employees, Moe Leon, owner of Moe's on
Wixom tried valiantly to keep his restau-
rant across the street open ... But the
loss was too great, and he has finally been
forced to temporarily close its doors.
However, Moe still owns the property
on which the former Moe's on Wixom was
located ... and is expected to reopen in
about four months as Leon's Family Dining.
In the meantime, likeable Moe Leon,
wife Debra and son Tony are concentrat-
ing all efforts on their Moe's on Ten family
restaurant, 10 Mile, just west of Haggerty,
Novi ... It will soon fete its seventh anni-
versary with the same pomp that has
made it a very good upscale family restau-
rant with on-the-spot home cooking, utter
cleanliness, quality ingredients and low
prices at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
A true family restaurant with menu
items one would ordinarily expect at a
higher-end eatery, but served at prices low
enough to make even the tightest budget-
keeper smile.
Big sellers like whitefish, salmon, lake
perch, filets, 14-ounce New York strip
steak sauteed with mushrooms and crisp
onions, mushroom chicken Alfredo,
shrimp scampi, salads, barbecued ribs,
meatloaf, crab cakes, fresh roasted turkey
with stuffing and gravy, premises-made
Italian seafood pasta, London Broil,
Walleye and so much more ... all served
with premises-made soup or salad,
smashed potatoes or rice, vegetable and

WHILE VISITING here from Los
Angeles, former Detroiters Sam and
Dorothy Essick extolled the virtues of
their favorite delicatessen in California
... "You have some wonderful delis in
the Detroit area," says Sam, "but few can
compare with our Brent's Deli. The soups,
like split pea, are so thick the spoon stands
up in them. There are two Brent's Delis
here. One is in Northridge but Dorothy
and I absolutely love the newest one in
Westlake."
