the Stars wraps. Franco, 24, was raised
Jewish by his mother, whose ancestors
emigrated from Russia.

Numb3rs, beginning 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, on CBS. The Eppes family,
FBI agent Don and little brother/math genius Charlie, team up to catch
bad guys using equations and games.

Following a brief theatrical release, this Independent Lens doc tells the
story of Herb and Dorothy Vogel who, on two civil servants' salaries,
amassed a multimillion-dollar art collection, largely by recognizing qual-
ity works by then unknown artists.

Schmatta: Rags to Riches to Rags, 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, on HBO. The

story of the New York City garment industry, for generations a road
leading to the American Dream.

The People vs. Leo Frank, 10 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, on many PBS sta-
tions. Explores one of the most sensational murder cases in American
history. It ended, of course, with a lynching.

The Jazz Baroness, 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, on HB02. A member
of the rich French banking family, Baroness Pannonica Rothschild's life
changed when she heard a recording of "'Round Midnight." Known as
Nica and raised in a religious household, she left her family and five chil-
dren, went to New York and had a 10-year relationship with jazz master
Thelonious Monk, the man who wrote the song. Among other oddities,
drug addict Charlie Parker died in her apartment.

WWII in HD November (dates and times to be announced), on the History
Channel. A 10-part series; one of the soldiers interviewed is Jack Werner,
an immigrant from Vienna, who served in the Pacific Theater.
