of Volunteers for
Israel. He is also
the regional officer

for the states of
Kohl
Michigan, Indiana
and Wisconsin. Volunteers for Israel
is associated with Sar-El, which
administers the program in Israel.
Volunteers typically spend two or
three weeks living and working along-
side Israelis, on an army base and at
Israeli Defense Forces warehouses,
hospitals or service bases. The pro-
gram offers a way to contribute to the
State of Israel in a very direct way.

two annual Israel
study scholarships
awarded by the
Zerin
synagogue. Sam
Zerin of West Bloomfield is this year's
recipient of the Jay Yoskowitz Israel
Scholarship, which will allow him to
study at a yeshivah in Israel, spend
time on an ulpan in Netanya and
receive an internship with the Jewish
Music Research Center in Jerusalem.
Jaime Rabotnick
of West Bloomfield
received the
Sarah and Harry
Laker Memorial
Scholarship. She will
pursue a yearlong
program with the
Rabotnick
Israel Experience at
Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan.
