Shlomo Honig, son of Peggy and Israel Honig, will read from the Torah on the occa- sion of his bar mitz- vah on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Shul in West Bloomfield. He is the Honig brother of Batsheva and David and the grandson of Holocaust survivors. His maternal grandparents are the late Berta and the late Shlomo Zalka "Sam" Goldner, after whom he is named. His paternal grandparents are Moshe and Ziva Honig of Petach Tikva, Israel. Shlomo is a student at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. Among his various mitzvah projects, he has been raising funds by collecting bottles/cans with refundable deposits to help rebuild the Chabad Center in Mumbai, India, in memory of the six Jews murdered there by terrorists last fall. Kyle Ruben Hords, son of Dana Berman and Alan and Maya Hords, will read from the Torah on the occasion of his bar mitzvah Saturday, Aug. 29, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. He is the brother of Michael and Andrew. Sharing in the simchah will be his proud grandparents Sandy Berman, Larry Berman and Sandy and Oscar Tuttleman. Kyle attends Cranbrook- Kingswood Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. He felt his vol- unteer work at Friendship Circle in West Bloomfield was the most meaningful of his mitzvah projects. Stephen Benjamin Lipshaw (Shachar Beril) of West Bloomfield became a bar mitzvah at Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills on Saturday, Aug. 22. Lipshaw He is the son of Jeff and Lori Lipshaw and the brother of Eric. Proud grandparents are Harold and Trudy Shapiro and Jackie Lipshaw. He is also the grandson of the late Alfred Lipshaw. Stephen attends Clifford Smart Middle School in Walled Lake. His most meaningful mitzvah project was joining his friends and visiting a nursing home with their dogs to cheer up the residents.
