Slates Golf Scramble, Gala

The 14th annual Hillel Day School Golf
Classic will be held on Monday, Sept.
14, at Franklin Hills Country Club in
Farmington Hills.
The nine-hole tournament will begin
with registration and conti-
nental breakfast at 8:45
a.m. with a 9:30 a.m.
shotgun start; lunch is
included.
Registration
and lunch for the
18-hole event will
begin at noon with
a 1 p.m. shotgun
start, followed by
dinner.
The cost for the
nine-hole event is
$180 per person. Cost for
the 18-hole tournament is $300 per
person.
Sponsorship opportunities are avail-
able. Proceeds from this event benefit
continuing excellence in academic
programming and the school's financial
assistance program.

Join the Detroit-based Barbara Ann
Karmanos Cancer Institute for its 16th
Annual Partners events. "The Day" golf
classic will take place Monday, Aug.
24. "The Night" gala will take place
Saturday, Sept. 12.
The Partners offerings are
some of the Karmanos
Cancer Institute's signa-
ture fundraising events.
Over the past 15 years,
Partners has raised
more than $8 million for
the institute to help in its
mission to provide state-of-
the-science research and
cancer care.
This year's Partners
honorees, recognized for
their outstanding philanthropy and
commitment in the fight against can-
cer, are Michelle and Charles E. Becker
of Grosse Pointe, and Madeline and
Sidney Forbes of Bloomfield Hills.
"The Day" will be Monday, Aug. 24,
with 11 a.m. registration at Franklin
Hills Country Club 31675 Inkster,
Farmington Hills.
Foursome: $1,980. One Golfer: $495.
"The Night" will be 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Somerset
Collection South, 2800 W. Big Beaver,
Troy. Benefactor: $250. Friend: $175.
Partners Executive Committee Co-

Morganroth. Co-chairs for the Partners
Day are Burton Brodsky and Aaron

Hillel Golf Classic Supports
Financial Aid, Programming

Howard Stern's sidekick Artie Lange
will lead a night of laughs to support
Adam Niskar of Beverly Hills.
The event will be 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9,
at the Detroit Opera House.
In 1999, Niskar was involved in a
diving accident that left him para-
lyzed.
There are numerous ongoing medi-
cal expenses so the Friends for Adam
Niskar Trust was established.
Southfield native Mike Young will
open for Lange. All proceeds from the
show will go to the Friends for Adam
Niskar Trust.
Preferred seats run from $60-5200
per ticket. VIP access box seats are
$1,500 for 12 box seats or $1,000 for
eight box seats.

Two Swine Flu Deaths
Bring Israeli Total To 9

Jerusalem/JTA — Two more Israelis
died after contracting swine flu, bring-
ing the death total as a result of the
virus to nine.
Two men, aged 76 and 67, both with
underlying medical conditions, died Aug.
17 at different Petach Tikvah hospitals.
A dozen other Israelis were reported
to be in serious condition in intensive
care units throughout the country.
There have been 2,332 confirmed
cases of swine flu in Israel.
