LOUIS "LARRY" WHITE, 61, of Detroit,
died Aug. 4, 2009.
He was an Avon salesman for 32 years.
Mr. White is survived by his wife,
Lois Burke; son, Larry Flood; broth-
ers, Clifton Tuggel, Ronnie Tuggel, Tony
Tuggel; sister-in-law and brother-in-law,
Judy and Barry Merenoff.
Interment at Machpelah Cemetery.

FRANCES ZEID, 83, of Bloomfield
Hills, died Aug. 4, 2009.
She is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Sandy Zeid of Walnut
Creek, Calif., Harry and Debbie Zeid
of Greenwood Village, Colo., Michael
and Michelle Zeid of Bloomfield Hills;
brother and sister-in-law, Dave and
Bea Shulman; grandchildren, Allison,
Lauren, Joshua, Jeremy (Kristin), Sarah;
great-grandson, Isaac Zeid; many loving
nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Zeid was the beloved wife of the

late Larry Zeid; loving daughter of the
late Joff and the late Lena Shulman; dear
sister of the late Harry Shulman, the late
Sophie Wolf; dear sister-in-law of the
late Bea Shulman, the late Sid Wolf.

Columnist
And Activist
Sidney Zion

New York/JTA — Sidney Zion, a pro-Israel
newspaper columnist, author and social
activist, has died.
Zion, a writer for some of the coun-
try's top publications, died Aug. 2 of
bladder cancer in Brooklyn. He was 75.
Following the untimely death of his
teenage daughter in 1984, Zion cam-
paigned for reforms in the training of
doctors that ultimately were adopted
as state law five years later. He drew
national attention to the workloads and
supervision of medical interns in teach-
ing hospitals.
Zion, a former attorney and federal
prosecutor, was a reliable defender of
Israel in his columns in the New York
Post, the New York Daily News and other
publications.
