The head of the Spinka group,
Rabbi Naftali Tzvi Weisz, agreed to
plead guilty to the charges earlier this
month.
In the wake of the arrests, some
Orthodox leaders are working to
ensure that their institutions are fol-
lowing the letter of the law.
At a Chabad-Lubavitch regional
conference in northern Virginia,
several of the Chasidic movement's
senior rabbis stressed the impor-
tance of obeying the law, according
to Rabbi Levi Shemtov, director of
the Washington office of American
Friends of Lubavitch.
The movement's late spiritual
leader, Rabbi Menachem Mendel
Schneerson,"clearly instructed all
emissaries of Lubavitch that all activ-
ities, particularly those undertaken in
the name of the movement, must be
lawful',' Shemtov said. "The Talmud
clearly rules that the law of the land,
especially in the case of a government
which allows Jews to live freely, takes
on the force of Jewish law:'
In New York, a leader of Agudath
Israel of America helped organize a
meeting to stress the same theme.
The meeting was to featured two
prominent rabbis and two New York
lawyers.

Answering
Israel's Critics

The Charge

Hezbollah leader Hassan
Nasrallah said late last month
that Israel is preparing for
another war with Lebanon, also
implying that the capital, Beirut,
will again be attacked.

The Answer

Nasrallah is a terrorist and a
provocateur who ignited the
2006 war with a cross border
raid and kidnapping.

We think nothing of driving
half an hour to a good restaurant,
but we'll settle for a hospital
that's right around the corner.

As long as your health insurance allows you to go
anywhere, maybe you shouldn't confine yourself to
the neighborhood.

Because this isn't dinner, this is your life.

Year after year; the people of Southeast Michigan have
rated Beaumont as their most preferred hospital. Most
preferred for surgery and for overall quality of care.
