Metro B'nai B'rith's Helm On July 30, the Bloomfield Township-based B'nai B'rith Great Lakes Region installed Nancy Braun the first female regional president since the installation of the first president in 1940. Peter Perlman, a past president of the region, who served an interim term, turned over the gavel to Braun to complete his term of office. Nancy Braun B'nai B'rith International's chairman of the executive, Dennis Glick, was on hand as keynote speaker and to pin Braun with the traditional sitting regional president's pin. Senior Dream Cruise AJC's New Board The Bloomfield Township-based Detroit Metropolitan Chapter of the American Jewish Committee held its annual chapter meeting, which featured Dan Hunter, manager of Oakland County Planning and Economic Development. He spoke on the economic plan- ning initiative for Oakland County. He highlighted the expanding and contracting economic sectors in the area, including the growth of alter- native energy and new-automotive segments. The meeting included a tribute to outgoing chapter President Kenneth C. Gold. The following have been elected to the board of directors' executive committee: president, Jonathan B. Frank; vice presidents, Howard S. Brown, Bryant M. Frank, Robert Gordon, Robert B. Labe, Sheldon S. Toll; officer at large, Lynn Desenberg Heumann. Newly elected board mem- bers include Robert Bick, Jeffrey Camiener, Rep. Ellen Cogen-Lipton, Dr. Shari Rogers and David Techner. Al Muskovitz of WOMC-FM will be grand marshal for the afternoon of classic cars, entertainment and fun. Rain date is Thursday, Aug. 13. The Senior Dream Cruise began as a way for the residents who could not attend the Woodward Avenue Dream Cruise to see the vintage automobiles up close near home. Community members who own the vehicles will provide rides around the Applebaum Campus for resi- dents of Fleischman, Hechtman and Meer. Refreshments will be provided.
