Three Over 90 At YIOP
Young Israel of Oak Park will honor
three of their members who turn 90
this year at a Saturday, July 18, kiddush
celebration following services.
Milton Duchan saw service in
World War II as a captain, ultimately
serving in a prisoner-of-war camp in
Herne, Tex. After the war, he and his
wife, Marian, returned to make their
home in Detroit and were among the
pioneers who moved to the Wyoming-
Curtis area and founded Young Israel
of Northwest, originally the Northwest
Israel Synagogue and Center.
David Tanzman was a charter
member of Young Israel of Greenfield,
Young Israel of Oak Woods' first High
Holiday cantor, past regional vice
president of the National Council of
Young Israel, a longtime member of
Young Israel of Oak Park, and a char-
ter member and president of Yeshivat
Akiva. He is an active member of the
local Jewish Community Relations
Council and a member of the 25th
Century Club of the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit. Tanzman has
been working as an arbitrator of labor
management issues until the present.
He was appointed to the Michigan
Employment Relations Commission
by Gov. Blanchard and served in that
capacity from 1983-1992.
Gloria Pesis is a survivor of the
Dachau concentration camp. She mar-
ried Albert Pesis and moved to the
United States in 1949. Between her
three children, she has eight grand-
children and four great-grandchildren.
The 48 Ways To Wisdom

Weinberg of Aish HaTorah.

Tolwin and Tzvi Hochstadt.
