dat Shalom Synagogue of
Farmington Hills kicked off the
summer with Shabbat in the
Park on Friday, June 26, at Drake Sports
Park in West Bloomfield.
More than 200 people joined together
and were led by Rabbi Rachel and Dan
Shere in joyfully welcoming Shabbat.
Synagogue members and non-members,
children and adults sang and danced
together on the park grounds. Shabbat
dinner was casual, with blankets and
picnic baskets covering the grass, and the
sounds of swinging, playing and giggling
filling the air.
Debi Banooni, Adat Shalom's Jewish
family educator, said, "Shabbat is always
sweeter when celebrated with friends and
family. The park setting was perfect."
The next Shabbat in the Park will be
July 17. To register for this free program,
contact Rabbi Shere or her assistant
Caren Harwood at (248) 851-5100,
or email rshere@adatshalom.org or
