he yearly Michigan Multi-
Family-Assets Managers
(MMAM) review for the
Anna and Meyer Prentis Jewish
Apartments in Oak Park earned a
superior rating.
Every year, an inspector from
MMAM performs a comprehensive
inspection of each Jewish Senior Life
of Metropolitan
Detroit building
that is subsidized
through the U.S.
Department
of Housing
and Urban
Development
(HUD).
This process
includes a physical
inspection of the
building as well as
the financial files
of residents.
The purpose of
these inspections is
to ensure the agen-
cy is in compliance
with government requirements.
It is rare for a building to receive a
superior rating, but this spring, the
Teitel Building, also in Oak Park, was
rated superior.
Prentis Administrator Larry Machlis
said, "This was a real team effort and
a perfect example of each person in

every department working together
for the greater good of our residents.
It's no wonder people enjoy living
in our Prentis community on the A.
Alfred Taubman Jewish Community
Campus."
The inspections are important to
ensure that government tax dollars
are being used efficiently and to verify
the building is in
compliance with all
HUD policies and
procedures.
Because resi-
dents' rent is based
on their income, a
thorough audit of
resident files veri-
fies they are paying
the appropriate
amount. It also
ensures that the
building is billing
HUD for the correct
amount of govern-
- Larry Machlis ment subsidy.
Prentis Jewish
Apartments pro-
vides safe and affordable housing and
related services for senior adults in
Oak Park. Its provides a welcoming
atmosphere, kosher meals, a Shabbat
elevator, personal home care, trans-
portation and daily activities. For fur-
ther information, go to Jewish Senior
Life online at www.Jslmi.org. I I
