Colorful light displays will fill the skies across Metro Detroit as communities
celebrate Independence Day. As dusk falls, or a little later, on Saturday, July
4, the following places will be open to the public: Greenfield Village, 20900
Oakwood, Dearborn; Clawson Park, along Main just north of 14 Mile; the
Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, 788 Lake Shore Road, Grosse Pointe Shores; Camp
Dearborn, 1700 General Motors Road, Milford; Rackham Golf Course, Scotia
and 1-696, Huntington Woods; and Stony Creek Metropark, 4300 Main Park

AFTERNOON DELIGHT
The Country Garden Club of Northville will be showcasing seven area gar-
dens with distinctive plants and landscaping 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, July 8.
For those who want to get more out of their visit, there will be a garden market
with some unique attractions, live music by the Picks and Sticks String Band
and refreshments — all at Mill Race Village, a center offering historic build-
ings, at 215 Griswold. The event, also sponsored by the Woman's National
Farm and Garden Association, designates proceeds to support local and nation-

Some 25 presentations on wellness will be part of the free Enrichment and
Wellness Festival: Raise the Vibration running noon-4 p.m. Sunday, July 26,
at Adat Shalom Synagogue, 29901 Middlebelt, in Farmington Hills. Organized
by Dr. Stacey Francis, a chiropractic kinesiologist, the event will feature special-
ists in finance, parenting, alternative health care, spirituality, yoga and travel.
The idea is to offer messages of hope to participants. Speakers and their topics
include Rabbi Aaron Bergman on "Gaining Power by Giving Power," Rabbi
Rachel Shere on "Spirituality and the Secret," Charlene Levine on "Creating
Your Dream Relationship and Keeping It" and Ellen Livingston and Don

TEEING OFF
The Buick Open 2009 PGA Golf Tournament, Michigan's only PGA golf
tournament, has been set for July 27-Aug. 2 at the Warwick Hills Golf &
