With that in mind, Federation's Young Adult Division hosted an "Awesome '80s Prom" May 14 at Boogie Fever in Ferndale for 20- and 30-some- things who've made a contribution at the Chai Society level of $18 or more. "We put on this event to thank people,' said Heidi Wineman of Birmingham. She co-chaired the prom with Andrea Beavers of Farmington Hills. "We wanted people to know their gift is appreciated no matter what the dollar amount," Wineman said. More than 100 partygoers dressed up in 1980s attire for the party, which includ- ed awards for individuals and couples considered the "best dressed." Remnants of the '80s were everywhere: Centerpieces incorporated glow sticks and the three- dimensional puzzle, Rubik's Cube. There were also old video games to play including Pac Man and Donkey Kong. "I wore a Madonna-style outfit with a black T-shirt dress, bracelets on my arms, a big black belt and black plastic ear- rings," said Wineman. "Other people wore old prom dresses, skinny ties and big hair. It was a really festive atmosphere. Most people in the YAD age group grew up in the '80s, so we knew it would be a really fun theme." Spotted in the crowd were: Jennifer and Todd Kroll, Lisa and Mark Menuck and Matthew Schwartz, all of Birmingham; Marla and Jason Golnick of West Bloomfield; Lauren and Sean Kerman, Lena Epstein and Brett Koretzky of Royal Oak; Marc Pearlman of Oak Park; and Jill Rosenfeld of Farmington Hills. ❑ A24 June 4 2009 Josh Levine of Huntington Woods and Jeremy Crane of Farmington Hills Craig Eidelman of Berkley with Rebecca Lincoln and Adam Scheinfield, both of Birmingham Marty and Lindsey Maddin of Huntington Woods Cindy and Keith Faigin of West Bloomfield
