Ramon and the entire crew were killed in the Columbia disaster in 2003. Massimino and Ramon trained together in flight school. The original mezuzah was commis- sioned by the1939 Club, a group of Holocaust survivors and their families in Los Angeles. After the Columbia tragedy, the 1939 Club commissioned Golant to make another Barbed Wire Mezuzah to give to Ramon's widow, Rona, as a gift. Rona Ramon asked the artist to make the third mezuzah for Massimino to take into space, accord- ing to the artist's blog. Terrorist Recruiting Jerusalem/JTA — Terrorist groups are trying to recruit Israeli citizens as agents using social networking sites such as Facebook, Israel's Shin Bet has warned. The groups are offering bribes in exchange for information, the Israeli security agency said in a warning released to the public Monday. Meetings set up through the sites also could be a ruse for one of the groups to kidnap Israeli citizens, the warning said. The terrorist groups also are search- ing sites often visited by Israelis, espe- cially former soldiers in elite Israel Defense Forces units, in order to obtain information, according to the Shin Bet. The Shin Bet warned Israeli citizens to keep personal information, such as addresses and phone numbers, off of their personal profile pages. Answering Israel's Critics The Charge A sociology professor at University of California-Santa Barbara recently sent an e-mail to some students comparing Israel Defense Forces actions in Gaza with Nazi attacks on Jews during World War II. The Answer The Scholars for Mideast Peace orga- nization calls the professor's remarks a demonization of Israel, a vilifica- tion of Israeli leaders and a clear anti-Semitic bias. - Allan Gale, Jewish Community Relations Council of Metropolitan Detroit © Jewish Renaissance Media, May 21, 2009
