GERALD "BUDDY" SHAPIRO, 90, of
Southfield, died May 6, 2009.
He was the owner of Plymouth
Furniture.
Mr. Shapiro is survived by his son and
daughter-in-law, Robert E. Shapiro and
Diane Zogut of Southfield; daughters,
Linda Shapiro of California, Cynthia
Chafetz of Southfield; brother-in-law and
sister-in-law, Arline Nadler and Herb
Carson; nieces and nephews.
He was the beloved husband of the late
Shirley Shapiro; the dear brother of the
late Loraine Carson.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to
Adat Shalom Synagogue, Jewish Family
Service or Disabled American Veterans.
Arrangements by Ira Kaufman Chapel.

DR. O.D. SILVERSTEIN, 77, of Bloomfield

Hills, died May 5, 2009.
Senior staff radiologist at Henry Ford
Hospital, he also played the clarinet and
was a member of the Birmingham Band,
the Palm Beach Gardens Band and was a

member of Temple Shir Shalom.
Dr. Silverstein is survived by his wife of
53 years, Dolores Silverstein of Bloomfield
Hills; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Roger
Silverstein and Dr. Susan Sauber of West
Bloomfield; daughters and sons-in-law,
Julianne and Jeff Vinik of Chicago and
Jenny and Jon Whaley of White Chapel,
N.C.; grandchildren, Max and Claire
Silverstein and Sterling Whaley; sisters
and brothers-in-law, Jody and Perry
Shapiro and Miriam and Don Hutchins;
brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joel
and Elizabeth Sloan and David and Kathy
Sloan; other loving relatives and friends.

nurses at Henry Ford Hospital.
