T

hey danced, sang and dined
amid Israeli decorations,
music and hospitality in cel-
ebration of Yom HaAtzmaut at Yossi's
Famous Falafal in West Bloomfield.
The State of Israel celebrated its
61st birthday on April 29, the fifth of
Iyar. At Yossi's, an Israeli buffet was fol-
lowed by dancing and karaoke.
Mike and Sima Snapir of Ann Arbor
won a 32-inch, flat-screen television
for "best performance of the evening."
One of the guests who couldn't
attend sent two dancers instead to
heat up the event.
"It was all worth the hard work; it
felt as if I was in Israel," said Ilanit
Rubin, who organized the evening.
"The energy of the party brought the
heat close to the warmth of Israel and
its people!"
Host Yossi Benjamin of Farmington
Hills is a Haifa native.
Spotted at the party were Ela and

Dr. Kevin Homer of West Bloomfield,
Karolyn and Ari Leibovitz of West
Bloomfield, Jennifer and Robert
Mattler of Bloomfield Hills, Tammy
and Jeffrey Kahan of Bloomfield Hills,
Renee and Stuart Kay of Farmington
Hills and Annat and Scott Cole of West
Bloomfield. E
