Region "Support Israel" buttons, Israeli
snacks and many of the Israeli flags
carried by walk participants.
"The walk brought out hundreds of
local supporters of Israel and its quest
for peace; young and old, Christian
and Jewish, veterans of tours to Israel
and people who have yet to visit the
Holy Land," said the Council's associ-
ate director, Allan Gale. "They joined
together on Sunday afternoon to cel-
ebrate both Israel's 61st birthday and
the Jewish state's friendship with the
American people."
Walk coordinator Mark Segel
extended gratitude toward those who
contributed to and attended the walk.
"I am grateful to everyone who lent
a hand and for the turnout and the
generosity of the 42 sponsors who
provided the money or donation to
pay for the food, the advertising in the
Jewish News and the other expenses,"
he said. "Support for Israel at this time
needs to take on a public face to show
others how important she is to us and
the world."
