inda and Steve Kaplan of
Farmington Hills are pleased to
announce the engagement of their
daughter Melissa Susan to Gabriel Ian, son
of Felicia Saunders and Dr. Paul Silverman
of Missoula, Mont.
Melissa earned a B.A. in speech and hear-
ing sciences from Indiana University in
Bloomington and an M.S. in speech pathol-
ogy from Rush University Medical Center in
Chicago. She works at Resurrection Medical
Center in Chicago.
Gabriel graduated from the University of
Oregon in Eugene with a B.F.A. in multime-
dia design. He is the owner of Gecko Designs, a graphic design and marketing
firm in Evanston, Ill.
Following their October wedding in Bloomfield Hills, the couple will reside in
Missoula.

indy and Fred Shuback of
West Bloomfield are delighted
to announce the engagement
of their daughter Marissa Beth Shuback to
Daniel Baruch Kaplow, son of Dr. Rivka and
Mark Kaplow of Highland Park, N.J.
Marissa graduated from Brandeis
University in Waltham, Mass., with a B.A. in
politics and received her juris doctor degree
from the George Washington University
School of Law in Washington, D.C.
Daniel graduated from Johns Hopkins
University in Baltimore, Md., with a B.A. in
international studies and received his master
of science in foreign service degree from
Georgetown University. They both reside and work in the Washington, D.C. area.
A September wedding in Chevy Chase, Md., is planned.

son of Dr. and Mrs. Brian Duchan of

Erin earned a bachelor of science degree
in nutrition from Michigan State University

She is employed as a pediatric resident at
Bronson Children's Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Josh earned a bachelor of arts degree in
music from University of Pennsylvania in
Philadelphia and a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology from the University of Michigan.
He is employed as a professor at Bowling Green State University in Bowling
Green, Ohio.
An August wedding is planned at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield.
