Durban II Recap
The American Jewish Committee
will host Hillel Neuer, a human rights
advocate, 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May
13, at the Jewish Community Center
in West Bloomfield. He will discuss
his experience at the Durban Review
Conference in Geneva.
Durban II was the follow up to
the 2001 U.N.-sponsored World
Conference Against Racism, Racial
Discrimination, Xenophobia and
Related Intolerance. That conference
turned into a forum for anti-Israel,
anti-Western and anti-Semitic hate.
As executive director of U.N. Watch,
the Geneva-based subsidiary of AJC,
Neuer monitored preparations for
Durban II and attended as an observer.
Co-sponsors for the event include
Anti-Defamation League-Michigan
Region, Stand With Us and the Jewish
Community Center of Metro Detroit.
