MILDRED BELGRAD, 93, of West
Bloomfield, died April 13, 2009.
She is survived by her daughter,
Barbara Frenkel of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren, Dr. Joel (Laura) Lattin,
Brian (Stacy) Lattin, Karen Belgrad,
Amy (Dr. Michael) Margolis and Dr.
Elizabeth (Michael Kenwood) Frenkel;
great-grandchildren, Morgan, Alli,
Maxwell and Laney.
Mrs. Belgrad was the beloved wife
of the late Herman Belgrad; mother of
the late Gary Belgrad; grandmother of
the late Mark Belgrad; mother-in-law
of the late Dr. Alan Frenkel.
Interment at Westlawn Cemetery
in Chicago, Ill. Contributions may
be made to In House Hospice or to a
charity of one's choice. Arrangements
by Dorfman Chapel.

HELEN BUDMAN, 94, died on April
14, 2009, peacefully and with grace in
her own home in Birmingham.
She was an extraordinary woman,
who lived a full and interesting life. She
was a progressive thinker, had incred-
ible style and was highly independent.
Mrs. Budman was born on June 6,
1915, in Detroit, where she spent her
entire life. She graduated from Central
High and in the late 1930s, she began
a distinguished career at Saks Fifth
Avenue. A deeply loyal employee, she
worked there for more than 50 years,
much of that time as the leading sales-
woman in the couture department.
She was also highly respected at Saks
for being a caring mentor for younger
staff. Mrs. Budman was a kind, gen-
erous person, who always had great
compassion and concern for other
people. She had a big heart and was a
devoted friend. Incredibly modest, she
lived according to one of her favorite
expressions: "Less is best:' She will be
dearly missed by many.
Until her final days, she remained an
extremely devoted, loving mother to her
sons, Jim of Los Angeles and Michael
of Toronto; an incredible mother-in-law
to Diane and was equally dedicated to
her two grandchildren, Matthew and
Alex Anne; and the Winkelmans, Justin,
Grant and Amy and Erin. She had just
become a great-grandmother to Taylor
on March 22, 2009. Special thanks are
given to her caregivers, Nancy, Luisa,
Yolanda and Rosa.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be

LOUIS I. CASSEL,
90, of Southfield,
died April 18, 2009.
A retired material
supply manager for
General Motors, Mr.
Cassel had been an
active volunteer with
Cassel
JARC. He was also a
member of Temple
Israel and its choir
and was an active participant with the
morning minyans.
He is survived by his companion,
Rae Mucasey; children, Judith and
David Kessler of Lexington, Mass.,
Debra and Michael Rand of New York,
N.Y.; grandchildren, Joshua and liana
Kessler; brother-in-law and sister-in-
law, Walter and Linda Levine; nephew
and niece, Dan and Emily Arnold;
other loving nieces, nephews, cousins,
friends; members of Rae's family, Amy
and Stuart Brozgold, Paula Mucasey
and Bob Wieffenbach, Janet Harris,
and their children.
Mr. Cassel was the beloved husband
of the late Ruth Cassel; the cherished
brother and brother-in-law of the
late Lillian Elaine Cassel, the late
Joseph and the late Ida Cassel, the late
Bernard and the late Lillian Cassel; the
dear nephew of the late Ida Levine.
Interment at Beth El Memorial Park.

ANNE NOVACK COHEN, 86, of
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, died April 9,
2009.
She is survived by her husband,
David Cohen of Ottawa, Ontario;
children, Phyllis and Mark Yaffe of
Montreal, Allan Cohen of Aylmer,
Quebec and Gerry and Karen Cohen of
Franklin; grandchildren, Miriam and
Stephen Rabinovitch, Sarah Cohen and
Sophie Cohen; sisters and brothers-in-
law, Lazar and Carol Novack, and Liza
Mueller; sister-in-law, Helen Novack.
Mrs. Cohen was the beloved sister of
the late Joel Novack; the sister-in-law
of the late Klaus Mueller.
