T

he Workmen's Circle/Arbeter
Ring held its 66th annual
Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
Commemoration Sunday, April 19, at
the Jewish Community Center in Oak
Park.
This tribute to Jewish resistance to
Nazi tyranny included readings, music
and a candle-lighting ceremony, all
dedicated to the 60,000 entrapped and
starving Jews in the ghetto of Warsaw,
Poland, who, with little training or
ammunition, bravely held off the
Nazis for three weeks.
Michigan Workmen's Circle has
memorialized the uprising each year
since its first anniversary on April 19,
1944. The event is presented in part-
nership with the JCC and the Sholem
Aleichem Institute.
