Bergman Installation
The Adat Shalom Synagogue in
Farmington Hills will mark the for-
mal installation
ceremony of Rabbi
Aaron Bergman as
rabbinic leader of
the congregation
on Friday evening,
May 1.

Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m.
with Shabbat Shaboom for young
children and their parents and a
Shabbat Rocks Service at 6 p.m.
Following dinner, Rabbi Daniel
Nevins, dean of the Rabbinical School
at the Jewish Theological Seminary of
America and former rabbinic leader
of Adat Shalom, will conduct Rabbi
Bergman's installation ceremony.
There will be special children's
activities. The evening will conclude
with an Oneg Shabbat.
At 8:30 a.m. on Shabbat morn-
ing, May 2, Rabbi Nevins will lead a
Talmud study session. After Kiddush,
he and Rabbi Bergman will take part
in an 'Ask the Rabbis" session.
Chairwomen are Barbara Kappy
and Carol Vieder. Dinner fees will be a
$54/household or $20/adult and $10/

Folktale Wisdom
Congregation B'nai Moshe in West
Bloomfield will present "Transmitting
Universal Values Through
Storytelling" with scholar-in-resi-
dence Peninnah Schram, the inter-
nationally known storyteller, teacher,
author and recording artist. She is
a professor of speech and drama at
Stern College of Yeshiva University,
New York. She tells Jewish folktales
of wisdom and humor, interweaving
melody and dialogue.
Schram founded the Jewish
Storytelling Center in 1984 and
brought it to the 92nd Street Y two
years later.
