cal correspondent/analyst for the the
Jerusalem Post.
Hoffman will speak 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 23, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue in Farmington Hills in a
program open to the community.
Hoffman was raised in Chicago,
graduated from Northwestern
University's School of Journalism

Adults Learn Hebrew

Adults interested in learning how
to read and understand the Hebrew
prayerbook can sign up for either of
two classes at Congregation Beth Ahm,
5075 W. Maple, West Bloomfield.
An intermediate level class meets
2-3 p.m. Mondays, taught by Amy
Appelman, Beth Ahm's director of edu-
cation, youth and family programming.
Classes are April 20, 27, May 4 and

An eight-week Beginner-Plus class
will be taught by Nancy Kaplan, ritual
assistant to Rabbi Steven Rubenstein.
The first session will be 1-2 p.m.
Friday, April 24. The following week,
the class will switch to Wednesdays.
This course is designed for those who
have recently learned the letters of
the alefbet and have some phonetic
Hebrew reading ability.
Class dates are April 24,129, May 6,
13, 20, 27, June 3 and 10. To register or

E. Lansing Culture Fair

Enjoy Jewish culture with
Congregation Shaarey Zedek of East
Lansing, presenting a Jewish Book, Art
and Music Fair 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday,

and wrote for the Miami Herald and
Arizona Republic before moving to
Israel. A reserve soldier in the Israel
Defense Forces Spokesman's Unit,
he has lectured in more than 30 U.S.
states and five countries.
The program is sponsored by
B'nai B'rith Great Lakes Region, AEPi
Detroit Alumni and B'nai B'rith's
Young Professional Network. The pro-
gram is free and refreshments will be
