Parents and kids are continually amazed at the modern and patient friendly
techniques that are now routinely used in orthodontics.

The actual braces have become smaller, and therefore are less noticeable and
easier to keep clean. Clear braces have been improved to resist stain and
are almost Invisible. Certain types of high technology braces, like DAMON
appliances, have a door mechanism that allows treatment to proceed more
quickly and comfortably than before. With traditional braces, fun and creativity
can be brought into the picture as patients can now elect to utilize colored bands.

Or. 'Nelson Hersh
and
l'ilarsha Beattie

Discomfort has been minimized with the elimination of heavy forces. More
efficient and lighter forces with archwires made of new materials have brought
many smiles to orthodontic patients. Some wires are temperature sensitive, so
patients have more control as to the level of comfort and speed at which the
teeth move. Warm foods and mouth temperatures activate these wires, while a
cold drink alleviates discomfort.

Licensed Specialists
for Children
& Adults

For bite correction, many alternatives are available that make headgear virtually
a technique of the past. Certain types of bite correctors alleviate the need for
compliance and can be used at the same time as braces are aligning the teeth.
This advantage allows for increased efficiency and a shorter overall treatment
time.
