Hillel's visability among the MSU Jewish
student community is gaining through its
athletic program, sponsored by the Slade
Family Sports Fund.
On Feb. 8, the first annual Hillel bowling
league began. Fifteen teams are participat-
ing in the eight-week season.
The third annual Matzoballers 3-on-3
Basketball Tournament was held Feb. 28-
March 1. Added competitions included a 3-
point shootout and a passing competition.

Detroit —Julie Schechter has been hired
as the new program associate at Hillel of
Metro Detroit. She will be responsible for
programming, leader-
ship development,
marketing, and provid-
ing on-going support to
the student and interest
groups on five of the
six campuses served by
Hillel of Metro Detroit.

liaison to other Jewish
communal agencies
and work as an informal Jewish educator.
"While I was in college, HMD was a
great place for me to meet people, relax,
learn and get involved in the Jewish com-
munity. As a staff person, I hope to create
the same opportunities for Jewish college
students:"
Schechter grew up in West Bloomfield
and attended Walled Lake Central High
School. She graduated from Wayne State
University in 2008 with a bachelor's
degree in marketing and minor in psy-
chology. She served as HMD's Tzedek
social action intern as well as the
Grinspoon Israel advocacy intern.
After graduation, Schechter spent five
months in Budapest, Hungary, teaching
high school English.
