four questions

Bob Beresh chats with Platinum.

They soar through the air with strength and
speed, carrying travelers to destinations far and
wide. But BOB BERESH, the creator of a new

'ii-IA:r BOOK., CD OR.

DVD for children, says airplanes also provide a
wonderful learning opportunity. The Beverly Hills,

Mich., native, who now lives in Los Angeles with
his wife, Robyn, recently released Yay! Planes, a
video hosted by Argyle and Jim, two sock pup-
pets who live in lost luggage.

"My love of planes goes back to when I was
little and would build plastic model airplanes,"
says Beresh, 32. "I guess there are some things
you never really outgrow."

The DVD teaches preschoolers about airplanes and flight,

shapes, the alphabet and the many different types of planes they
might see in the sky. "I hope the video will enrich the curiosity

about airplanes in our youngest generation of would-be future
pilots," Beresh says.

A graduate of Birmingham's Groves High School and Michigan
State University, Beresh says this project is the first in what he

hopes will be a series of children's DVDs about different modes of
transportation. For more information on Yay! Planes, go to

CYIIIIER. MEDIA. ARE YOU
LONGING TO SHAR.E?
Recently, I've been telling a lot of
people about the movie The Kid
Stays in the Picture. This documen-
tary, which came out a few years
back, is about the life and times
of luminary Paramount producer
Robert Evans. If you love movies
and the stories behind the business,
you'll enjoy this DVD. The story-
telling technique is engaging and extends beyond the
typical documentary. I just completed a special project
for Warner Bros. (my day job is business development
administrator for Warner Bros. post-production ser-
vices), and this movie was my go-to reference for the
technique we used.

IF YOU COULD IIAVE BRUNCH WM I

ONE BIBLICAL OR HISTORICAL JEW SI
FIGURE, WHO WO ULD I'i' BE?
One of my great inspirations is director-writer-
composer-comedian-actor-producer Mel Brooks. His
brand of humor combined with a strong Jewish iden-

tity has created some of the best and most successful
comedies. His career proves you can be successful
and crazy! Brooks never hid from his Judaism; he just
wrote it in. To sit down at a deli with him and talk
about how movies like History of the World: Part I and
The Producers got made would be fascinating.

WH4TI-1.S YOTTR. FAVORITE IF:WITSH . FOOD?
My favorite Jewish food has to be something that
transcends time and place. Something you've got in
your back pocket to counter the age-old argument of,
"Well, you know who's got the best ...?" My mom's
brisket and my dad's dad's latkes fall into that category.
I'd challenge anyone to find a better, more perfectly
balanced (sweet and savory) brisket or a better (fried)
complement to sour cream and sugar at Chanukah.

WHAT . WOI..ILD PEOPLE BE SLIRPRISED TO
K.. OW.ABOUT YOU?
I have appeared in a movie with Corey Feldman (a short
spoof of Project Greenlight titled Project Redlight, which
is included in the DVD box set of Project Greenlight:
Season 1). It couldn't have happened without a couple
of nice Jewish boys from West Bloomfield, but that's a
story for another day.
