Grammy-nominated DJ Urban Kris has worked with rap superstar Eminem
and other top hip-hop artists. He knows how to get a crowd onto the dance
floor, and that's exactly what he and percussionist Jared Sykes did Feb. 5 at Via
Nove in Ferndale.
About 130 people danced, mingled and enjoyed dinner and cocktails at
PAT4KAT — Party all Together for Kids all Together. The event helped raise
money for the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit's summer
day-camp program Kids all Together, which enables children with special needs
to participate in everyday activities with the rest of the camp population.
"As parents of a child with special needs, my husband, Jon, and I want
people to know how vitally important this program is," said Stacey Block of
Huntington Woods, one of the party chairs. "Childhood is a time of happiness.
The KAT program provides children with special needs the incredible gift of
being a 'typical' kid for a summer."
