Congregation
Shir Shalom on Thursday, April 23rd,
our event for young families at Summer
Impressions in West Bloomfield will be on
June 14th and our Annual Golf Outing

and group therapy services for children

• Refrigerators
• Stoves
• Microwaves
• Chest Freezers

ALL IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION

Kadima, as all non-profits, has taken a hit
from the terrible economic situation!! We
desperately need your continued financial
support to help us help our less fortunate
individuals struggling with mental illness
and who depend on Kadima as their
family for housing, medications, therapy,
employment and social activities!!

My best wishes for peace and an early
spring!!

Gail Katz
Kadima President

Kadima continues to offer a monthly
support group for parents of children with
behavioral and emotional issues. The group
meets the fourth Wednesday of every month
and there is no fee for this service.

will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009
at Oakland Community College, Auburn
Hills Campus. Dr. Demitri Papolos, author
of The Bi-Polar Child, will address topics
on "Childhood Onset Bipolar Disorder:
Under Diagnosed, Under-Treated and
Under-Discussion". Afternoon breakout
sessions will include a panel discussion
about how different communities deal with

Hispanic, Jewish, African American, Native
American and Asian Indian communities will
participate. Please mark your calendars for
October 23rd.

Kadima received a two-year research-
based grant in collaboration with Wayne State
University. This grant will study whether clients
with serious mental illness and co-occurring
disorders will benefit from motivational
interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy
in a Community Mental Health program.
Funds from this grant include staff training
and ongoing supervision for motivational
interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy.

JEWISH DISABILITIES
AWARENESS MONTH

February is Jewish Disabilities Awareness
Month. Mental illness isolates and
ostracizes, produces loneliness and
despair, takes away one's independence
and dignity — and sometimes one's home,
family and reason to live. Please join
with Kadima in recognizing men and
women with critical mental illness issues

that Kadima serves each day.

See all that is happening and make tributes on line at www.kadimacenter.org . You can
