Mr. Fine was a member of the Fighting Tigers in Fine World War II and spent much of his military time in China. He was also a WWII hero pilot and captain in 22nd Air Force in Burma from 1942-46. Arrangements by Ira Kaufman Chapel. MELVYN FOSTER, 83, of West Bloomfield, died Feb. 4, 2009. Mr. Foster was a decorated Army vet- eran of World War II and served in the European Theater. He assisted in the liberation of Paris and was wounded in the Battle of Hurtgen Forest. After the war, he became a systems manager for Wayne County; he was one of the first to comput- erize the court system. He had been a member of Adat Shalom Synagogue for more than 45 years and served as an usher for the High Holiday services, was a member of the Adult Study Commission and a past president of the Adat Shalom Memorial Park Cemetery Committee for more than 20 years. Mr. Foster had also served as a treasurer for the American Wine Tasting Society and as a volunteer for Channel 56 Public TV for more than 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Arline Foster of West Bloomfield; son, David Foster of Birmingham; daughter, Barbara Anne Foster of West Bloomfield; brother and sister-in-law, Malcolm and Sheila Foster of New York.
