The funny and beautiful Isla
Fisher, 32, stars in the romantic
film comedy Confessions of a
Shopaholic, opening Friday, Feb.
13. Fisher plays a young woman
who moves to Manhattan and finds
that her boring job writing for a
financial magazine won't pay for
her shopping addiction. As the film
progresses, she falls for a wealthy
businessman, played by Hugh
Dancy. An excellent supporting
cast includes John Goodman, Joan
Cusack, Lynn Redgrave and Kristin
Scott Thomas.

Small Screen
Julianne Margulies, 42, who
became famous playing Nurse
Carol Hathaway on NBC's E.R.,
has filmed an episode with former
series' co-star George Clooney
(Dr. Doug Ross). Margulies left E.R.
in 2000, Clooney in 1999; both
agreed to return for the series'

final season. Their
episode likely will
be aired in May.
Margulies mar-
ried lawyer Keith

last year. Keith's
father, Kenneth, is a University of
Michigan professor.
Don Diamont,

Brad Carlton on
the CBS soap
opera The Young
and the Restless
since 1985 (with a
one-year break),
has been laid off.

Plunging viewer-
ship led the network to eliminate a
number of soap characters to save
money. Character Carlton (birth
name George Kaplan, revealed to
be Jewish in 2005) "died" on Feb.

ily sat shivah for him. 0
