GLR Recycling
Expands Operation
R
oseville-based GLR Recycling
Solutions has opened a second
single-stream recycling processing
center in Huron Township to process com-
modities collected in the curbside programs
of many communities in the region.
This 50,000-square-foot recyclables pro-
cessing facility, at 36543 South Huron Road,
will create as many as 42 new full-time jobs
and represents more than a $12 million
investment in Michigan.
Construction of the GLR Huron Township
provided work for more than 60 steel work-
ers, masons, electricians, carpenters and
other contractors for the past six months.
"Having been located in Michigan for
more than 80 years, we felt it was impor-
tant to invest in Michigan:' said Sandy
Rosen, CEO of GLR.
"The recycling facility will process
recyclables from the entire region includ-
ing from Ohio, Indiana Michigan and
Canada."
Julian Levinson has been named recipient
of the 2008 National Jewish Book Award.
His book, Exiles on Main Street: Jewish
American Writers and American Literary
Culture (Indiana University Press), won the
American Jewish Studies: Celebrate 350
Award. Levinson is a fellow at University of
Michigan's Frankel Institute in Ann Arbor.
Gordon L. Hollander and Jeffrey K.
Lopatin have merged their accounting
practices under the firm name of Hollander
& Lopatin PC. The firm's offices are located
at 26100 American Drive, Suite 400, in
Southfield.

Associate Professor Eileen Pollack,
Zell Director, MFA Program in Creative
Writing at the University of Michigan,
was named this year's recipient of the
Edward Lewis Wallant Award for her
collection of short stories, In the Mouth
(Four Way Books, 2008).
Fredrick S. Levin, former Detroiter, is a
member resident of Dykema law firm's
Los Angeles office. Levin is the grandson
of Theodore Levin, for whom the U.S.
Federal Courthouse in Detroit was named
in 1995. In addition, he is the son of
Charles Levin, who served as a justice of
the Michigan Supreme Court for 25 years.
His stepmother is Helene White, judge for
U.S. Court of Appeals for Sixth Circuit.
Levin represents local, national and
multinational corporations in complex
commercial litigation. He defends finan-
cial institutions against consumer and
securities class action litigation. He has
extensive experience defending and
prosecuting trademark and copyright
infringement and trade secret misap-
propriation claims and has litigated a
wide array of other complex commercial
disputes involving issues of lender's
liability, creditor's rights, bankruptcy,
corporate governance, real estate, audit
malpractice and entertainment law.
A frequent author and lecturer, Levin
is also president of the Los Angeles
Chapter of the American Jewish
Committee and a member of the execu-
tive committee of the Legal Division of
the Jewish Federation of Los Angeles.
Judge Nanci J. Grant, Oakland County
Circuit Court, was named by her fel-
low commissioners as secretary of the
Judicial Tenure Commission. She is
past president of the Michigan Judges
Association. Previously, she served as
presiding judge of the Oakland County
Circuit Court and was the Circuit Court
representative on the state's Community
Corrections Board.
