ALAN SIMON, 82, originally of
Detroit, died Jan. 24, 2009, in San
Mateo, Calif.
He was a World War II veteran who
served in the U.S. Army Air Corps
in the Middle Eastern and European
theaters.
Mr. Simon was a lawyer, media-
tor and arbitrator. He was awarded
a Lifetime Achievement Award by
the San Francisco Trial Lawyers
Association in 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn;
daughters, Sue (Stuart) Jacobs, and
Marcie Delaney; grandchildren,
Chase and Jessica Delaney, Jolie and
Shane Michael Jacobs; uncle Seymour
(Resa) Brenner; many loving cousins
and friends, to all of whom he was
devoted.
He was the son of the late Max
and the late Fanny (Brenner) Simon;
brother of the late Guy Simon.
Services were held at Home of Peace
Cemetery in Colma, Calif Contributions
may be made to the Mickey Newman
Memorial, c/o the Jewish Community
Foundation, 4950 Murphy Canyon
Road, San Diego, CA 92123.

BARBARA CAROL STAMPLER, 74,
died Jan. 15, 2009, in San Francisco,
Calif.
She was born on Sept. 1,1934, in
Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived most of
her life in Detroit, before moving to
Phoenix, Ariz., in 1976. She enjoyed
traveling, reading, needlepoint and
crocheting.
Mrs. Stampler is survived by her
companion, Marvin Schallman;
daughter, Laurie Spoon-Potter (Kevin
Potter) of San Jose, Calif.; sons,
William Spoon (Sandy) of Phoenix,
David Spoon (Noelle) of Temecula,
Calif.; adoring grandchildren, Alicia
McBratney, Joshua Spoon, Jeremiah
Spoon, Julianne Spoon, Bailey Spoon,
Allison Spoon and Sara Spoon.
She was preceded in death by her
husbands, Harvey Stampler and
Lionel E. Spoon.
Interment at the Eternal Home
Jewish Cemetery in Colma, Calif.
Contributions may be made to the

Silver Avenue, San Francisco, CA

DIANA J. STALBURG, 65, of
Southfield, died Jan. 24, 2009.
She is survived by her husband,
Harvey T. Stalburg; daughters and
son-in-law, Dr. Caren M. Stalburg of
Ann Arbor, Barbara Stalburg and
Kenneth Bell of Southfield; brothers

and sister-in-law, Harold Kane of
California, Dr. William and Marilyn
Kohen of West Bloomfield; sister
and brother-in-law, Paula and Bob
Marquart; grandchildren, Brooke Bell,
Drew Bell.
Mrs. Stalburg was the dear sister-
in-law of the late Ursula Kane.

Memorial & Tribute Program, Dept.

Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial
Park in Livonia. Arrangements by

BETTE R. UTCHENIK, 86, of Detroit,
died Jan. 24, 2009.
She is survived by her husband,
Joseph; son, Dan Utchenik of
Shingleton, Mich.; grandchildren,
Shoshanna, Michael; great-grandson,
Oskar.
Contributions may be made to a
charity of one's choice. Interment
at Hebrew Memorial Park.
Arrangements by Hebrew Memorial
Chapel.

JEAN JOSEPH ZAREMBERG, 94, of
West Bloomfield, died Jan. 19, 2009.
She is survived by her daughter
and son-in-law, Joyce and Michael
Rosett of West Bloomfield; son and
daughter-in-law, Kenny and Isa
Joseph of Plantation, Fla.; sister, Ethel
Schwartz of Commerce; sister-in-
law, Beatrice Baskin; grandchildren,
Lynn Chio, Laurie (Tod) Fynke,
Charles (Rachel) Joseph and Robert
(Rebecca) Joseph; great-grandchil-
dren, Adam, Julie, Alex, Ryan, Devyn,
Dylan, Emma and Ty.
Mrs. Zaremberg was the beloved
wife of the late Morris Zaremberg
and the late Charles Joseph; sister-in-
law of the late Perry Schwartz.
Interment at Oakview Cemetery
in Royal Oak. Contributions may be
made to the Fleishman Activity Fund
or to the Hechtman II Activity Fund.
Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel.
