The award will be presented at a dessert reception at 2 p.m. in the Michigan League Ballroom, followed by JFS@UMS — a performance by the Batsheva Dance Company of Israel at 4 p.m. in the Power Center. Bendit and Bernstein serve both the Jewish and secular communities, locally and nationally, with their time and their philanthropy. Bendit, a mediator and attorney, volunteers with the Dispute Resolution Center, the Women's Health Program at the University of Michigan, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor. Bernstein, also an attorney, is involved with the Michigan Association for Justice, the Michigan Civil Rights Commission, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor. The Claire and Isadore Bernstein Leadership Award honors the founding members of Jewish Family Services.
