Dr. Shoichet receives a $1-million
check from Jonathan S. Aaron,

assistant to the president of
Guardian Industries Corp.

Beaumont

eaumont Hospital, Royal
Oak, is the recipient of
a $1 million gift from the
Bloomfield Township-based
William Davidson Foundation.
The gift will be used to establish
an endowed fund that recognizes
the outstanding work of Sandor H.
Shoichet, M.D., as a physician and
as a highly regarded teacher of hun-
dreds of physicians, internal medicine
residents and medical students at
Beaumont Hospitals. The Sandor H.
Shoichet, M.D. & William Davidson
Endowment for Excellence in Internal
Medicine Education will support Dr.
Shoichet's work in faculty develop-
ment and medical education.
Shoichet celebrated his 20-
year anniversary with Beaumont
Hospital, Royal Oak, in August. He
is the director of ambulatory care
and associate program director for
the Internal Medicine Residency
Program. Several times during his
tenure, Shoichet has received the
Outstanding Teacher Award from
the Department of Internal Medicine,
exemplifying his passion for educat-
ing medical students.
"I am honored by Mr. Davidson's
generosity. His gift will be used to
train the next generation of internal
medicine physicians and educators,"
said Shoichet.
William Davidson is chairman
of Auburn Hills-based Guardian
Industries Corp., He is also the
chairman of Palace Sports and
Entertainment, principal owner of
the Detroit Pistons of the National
Basketball Association and the Detroit
Shock of the Women's National
Basketball Association and the owner
of the Tampa Bay Lightning of the
National Hockey League.
