President Obama

made appearances at the Midwest
Ball, the Youth Ball and the Staff
Ball. As a campaign worker, Zack
was able to be there when President
Obama thanked thousands of staff-
ers who helped spread his message
and drum up support.
"Both the president and vice pres-
ident were there and they gave very
moving speeches:' Zack recalled.
"About 5,000 people were packed

inside the D.C. Armory. People were
just euphoric!"
His sister, Alison, attended the
Youth Ball for people ages 18-35
featuring musical performances by
Kanye West, Kid Rock, Fall Out Boy
and others. Lisa and Hannan Lis
made the rounds at the Midwest
Ball, a special Michigan party at
the National Museum of American
History, a function for Jewish orga-
nizations, and a reception at former
Michigan Gov. Jim Blanchard's home
in Arlington, Va.
"We did not get to congratulate
President Obama in person, but we
met him when he was here in Detroit:'
said Hannan Lis. "We did meet with
Gov. Jennifer Granholm and many of
the Michigan lawmakers."
The sights, the sounds and all the
people they encountered during the
whirlwind inaugural celebration cer-
tainly left a lasting impression.
"It was so cool to be a part of his-
tory in the making:' said Amanda
Orley.
"It was the experience of a life-
time," added Brad Schram. "It was
a day I've dreamed about since the
1960s' E
