ERMA "PENNY"
MILLER, 81, died of
colon cancer Jan. 8,
2009.
She was born
May 13, 1927, in
Detroit, the young-
est daughter of
Miller
Joseph and Bessie
Steigman and sister
of Rose Steigman. On Dec. 7, 1947,
she married Israel James Miller. They
remained together more than 60 years.
She had a strong and vibrant per-
sonality and possessed a unique flair
for the dramatic that harmoniously
blended with her down-to-earth com-
passion for others. She had a special
way of making an ordinary day into a
unique adventure.
She was a special woman. Whether
in the role of daughter, wife, mother,
relative, friend or even as a passing
stranger, her loving and generous
nature were her gifts to the world. She
was always there with a listening ear
and a generous heart for anyone with
a need, a want or even a whim.
Her greatest personal triumphs were
the times she could spread happiness.
Her rewards were in the smiles of oth-
ers and the feelings of joy in her heart.
Personal sacrifice was regarded as her
blessing rather than her burden. She is
loved. She will be missed.
