Andrew Dickstein, son of Shannon and Loren Dickstein, will celebrate his bar mitzvah Saturday, Jan. 17, at Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills. Dickstein He is the brother of Sean and Jonah. His proud grandparents are Shary and Marvin Cohn, Dennis Dickstein, Katy Shanahan. He is also the grandson of the late Richard Shanahan and the late Michael Smiley. Andrew attends West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. He chose as his mitzvah project to volunteer at Yad Ezra in Berkley. Cody Cooper Hyman, son of Jan Ovshinsky-Hyman and Richard Hyman, will celebrate his bar mitzvah Friday, Jan. 16, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. Hyman He is the brother of Jared and Dylan. Sharing in the sim- chah will be his proud grandparents Selma and Herb Ovshinsky and Clarice Hyman. He is also the grandchild of the late Gerald Hyman. Cody is a student at the Eton Academy in Birmingham. His most meaningful mitzvah project was donating funds he had saved to Friendship Circle in West Bloomfield. Ethel Mogilevsky will be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Jan. 17, at Adat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills. She is the daughter of Mogilevsky Bella Yagolkovskaya and Boris Mogilevsky and sister of Zara. Happy grandpar- ents are Aleta and Anton Yagolkovsky, Rebecca Mogilevsky. She is also the granddaughter of the late Gamliel Mogilevsky. A student at Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills, Ethel chose as her most meaningful mitzvah project vol- unteering at Yad Ezra in Berkley. Zachary Sol Segall will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, Jan. 17, at Temple Emanu-El in Oak Park. Zack is the son of Scott and Segall Ingrid Segall and the brother of Joshua and Matthew. Sharing in the celebration are his grandparents, Jack and Shelly Segall, Ralph and Adrian Pierce, Neil Kleiman and Judith Behrmann. Zack is a seventh-grade student at Norup International School in Oak Park. He felt his most meaningful mitzvah project was raising money and volunteering for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. A1 Oscar Louis Surfs, son of Shana and Oscar Surfs, will lead the congregation at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Saturday, Jan.17, as he is called to the Surfs bimah to celebrate his bar mitzvah. Joining in the hap- piness are siblings Mark.Emilio and Ramona and grandparents Rosalind and Harold Kaplan and Marta and Oscar Surfs. Oscar Louis attends Berkshire Middle School in Birmingham. Among his many mitzvah projects, he and a friend organized a go-kart race and raised significant funds that were donated to the Children's Tumor Foundation.
