loving nieces, nephews, other family

teacher and librarian.

ALVIN STERNS,
67, of West
Bloomfield, died
Dec. 16, 2008.
He was retired as
a vocational coordi-
nator for the Detroit
Public Schools for
Sterns
30 years. He served
in the U.S. Army as a tank commander
in the early 1960s. He then went on to
pursue his education, first at Wayne
State University, obtaining a degree
in teaching; then a master's degree at
University of Michigan in vocational
education.
At the age of 38 in 1980, he began
night school at Detroit College of Law
to fulfill his dream of becoming an
attorney; he graduated in 1984.
Mr. Sterns is survived by his
beloved wife, Adela; loving son, Kevin;
brother and sister-in-law, Franklin
and Deborah Sterns of Woodland
Hills, Calif.; sister, Judy Rosen of
Southfield; father-in-law and mother-
in-law, Paul and Sarah Kreisman;
many nephews and nieces and
cousins; close friends, Leonard and
Jeanette Finn of North Carolina, Tama
and Ashley Gorman, Maury and Myra
Gabel of Illinois and Stephanie Zaft.
He was the dear brother of the
late Lester Sterns and the late David
Sterns; son of the late Manny and the
late Esther Sterns; grandson of the late
Daniel Temchin.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial
