Shaye Winer Watch for us! A IPAC (American Israel Political Affairs Com- mittee), a pro-Israel lobbying organization, hosted its annual high school summit Nov. 9-11 in Washington, D.C. More than 300 high school teens were gathered from se- lect Jewish day schools, syna- gogues, youth groups and teen leadership organizations across the nation for a series of work- shops leading up to an actual hands-on lobbying experience. The Crew at Wyatt's Wide World of Sports Throughout our time with Alex Mark, Nicole Hertzberg, Shaye Winer and Caryn Zeitlin AIPAC, we learned about what AIPAC does and talked about what we, as young political activists, could do to help support and promote Israel. We had a brief seminar about the situation in the Middle East and what America's current role is regarding the region. Also, they told us time after time, that while we may be the younger generation, we can bring change as long as we try. A major highlight of many teens' experiences during these few days was getting the chance to put what we had been taught into action. We were split into delegations by mostly what state we were from. I came to AIPAC with BBYO (B'nai B'rith Youth Organization). Together with stu- dents from the Frankel Jewish Academy in West Bloomfield, we had the opportunity to N lobby a representative of U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich. CL ......, Luckily, she was very reassuring and told us she already is be- 03 0 0 cN hind Israel. He thought what we were doing was absolutely great. Wyatt and his cheerleader at Wyatt's Wide World of Sports Walking up Capitol Hill was honestly one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Teenagers from across the nation left the summit informed and enlightened on so many things. The summit definitely made an impact on my life.
