Tour Israel New York Join the Jewish National Fund on one of its Taste of Israel tours, March 11-19 or Oct. 16-25, arranged through JNF's Travel & Tours Department. The tour allows participants to see a side of Israel that goes beyond the classic tourist experience, giv- ing a firsthand look at JNF's critical work to help Israel in its continued growth and survival. The tour will explore the flavors of the country through its foods, wine, art, archae- ology, heritage, nature, and people. The tour begins in Jerusalem, where ancient meets modern and east meets west. After three days of exploring the city, hiking its hills and tasting foods, tourists will venture north to Beit She'an, one of the most impressive archaeologi- cal excavations in the Middle East, located in a region known for its rich fertile valleys, majestic moun- tains and fields covered in spring wildflowers. Participants will enjoy the hos- pitality of the Galilee as they learn about the foods and quality wines of the region. Participants will meet with one of Israel's leading choco- late manufacturers, hear about the ancient art of making olive oil, meet with local chefs, feast on fes- tive dinners and luxuriate in a spa hotel. While in the north, participants will also visit the mystical city of Safed, known for its natural beauty, gifted artists and Kabbalah. They will meet one of Israel's most deeply rooted families and visit their 300 year-old family business of cheese making. Before departing the north, participants will visit the artist community of Ein Hod and take part in a workshop with a local artist. The trip continues along the Mediterranean coast to Israel's thriving metropolis of Tel Aviv. There, participants will learn about the early pioneers who helped build the country, enjoy the beautiful beaches and bargain with the lively vendors at the colorful shuk, or marketplace.
