On November
2nd Kadima
dedicated two
homes donated
by Murray Pitt
and family. This
makes three
homes that the
Pitt family has
purchased for
Kadima clients
with mental
illness. The Pitt
Two home is designated for our older
Kadima clients who are medically fragile.
The Pitt Three home was named in honor
of our esteemed executive director, Janette
Shallal, and it was wonderful to celebrate
this dedication with Janette and her
family. A big thank you goes to Murray
Pitt and his family for their incredible
generosity and concern for our adults with
psychological disorders.
November 25th was a festive day in
the Kadima Activities Center. About 65
clients dined on home-cooked turkey
with all of the trimmings while listening - to
back-ground piano music. As our staff
and board members looked around the
room, we all noticed the warm family
feeling of belonging and the smiles on
our clients' faces. Our clients have found
themselves embraced at Kadima, this
wonderful agency full of respect and
understanding for those who struggle with
mental illness.
As President of Kadima, I have been
overwhelmed by the progress and growth
that Kadima has made. Technologically,
Kadima has moved into the 21st Century

Best of all, the newly developed Children's
Program is moving forward to provide
additional help for children and their
families. The need for Kadima's services
is growing fast and steady to the point
of many out-of-state families are seeking
help from Kadima. Our unique program
has reached Toronto and we were
visited by professionals in November to
gain information to help them create a
program similar to ours.
The Sunday Brunch program funded by
NOW provides a vital variety of activities
for many Kadima clients to enjoy.
The following activities are scheduled:
December 21
January 11
January 25
February 8
February 22

TODA RABAH TO OUR VOLUNTEERS
Since this is our last newsletter for 2008, I want to sincerely thank the dozens of volunteers
who have helped our many programs succeed. You have made a real difference in the lives
of our clients. Whether you have been part of the Sunday Brunch program or helped at one
of our client celebrations or visited clients in their Kadima homes, your interest and presence
has made a difference and I really appreciate what you've done.
Janette Shallal, Executive Director
It is a fact. These are difficult economic
and emotional times for all. Everyone
hears the news, reads the papers and
follows the media's reports. As a result,
depression is on the increase.
As a community, we must ban together
and support each other. Kadima, now
more than ever, is a necessary resource
in the metropolitan Detroit community.
Our caring staff is here to assist, counsel
and support those in need.
Please, we need your continued support
of time, money and resources to keep
our programs vibrant. These programs
assist men and women who struggle
with mental illness and depression.
Our clients depend upon Kadima and
Kadima needs you.
